Biography

I am a Rhode Island based abstract painter who creates as a form of therapy. The act of painting takes me to a meditative mind-state where the subconscious can more easily take over, in that place external and internal inspirational sources are activated to build and create connections between infinite points. There’s a visual play of tension and calm, of unexpected results, and delightful surprises that construct and weave associations throughout each work.

Broad sweeping color motions move away from, and towards eruptions of gestural scrapings and smears, multi-layered color and movement creates tension, and in other instances calm depending on the intensity of the tones and pattern. The fluidity of the medium, drip techniques, and palette knife scrapings and smears combine with quick movements to allow for chance happenings on the canvas. All of these ingredients intermingle and react with one another in a visual dance. The goal being to capture the chaos, emotion, energy, and inherent beauty that life experience stirs in all of us when viewing it.

Every painting is an experiment, every piece an opportunity to reveal something undiscovered and new. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University and have been actively painting since 1998. My work has appeared in World of Interiors, Spotlight, Tatler, British Vogue, The Huts Magazine, Purposeful Mayo and Collect Art Autumn publications.
